Changing Pathways – Ending Abuse, Empowering Lives.
Who we are.
For over 40 years, Changing Pathways has been dedicated to supporting women and their children in South Essex and Thurrock who are affected by domestic abuse.
They offer free, confidential services for those currently experiencing or recovering from domestic abuse and other forms of personal violence, including stalking, harassment, ‘honour-based’ abuse, and forced marriage. Their approach is survivor-focused—we listen, provide guidance, and work together to create a tailored support plan that empowers individuals to take the first step toward rebuilding their lives.
What is Abuse?
Abuse is any action that causes harm, distress, or suffering to another person. It can take many forms, including physical, emotional, sexual, financial, and neglect. Abuse can happen in any setting—at home, work, school, or online—and can be inflicted by anyone, including family members, partners, caregivers, or strangers. Recognizing abuse is the first step in stopping it, and support is available for those affected. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected.
Changing Pathways deliver the Brighter Futures programme for adults living in Thurrock who are / have experienced domestic abuse. This is an 8-week one to one educational and holistic programme for adults with children to understand domestic abuse. The sessions are held weekly for 1 hour at various Family Hubs.
