The travelling community, including groups such as Romani, Irish Travellers, and other nomadic cultures, faces unique mental health challenges. These challenges stem from a combination of cultural, social, and economic factors. Travellers often experience discrimination, social exclusion, and barriers to accessing healthcare, which can lead to heightened stress, anxiety, and depression. The transient lifestyle can also contribute to feelings of instability and isolation. Despite these challenges, the travelling community often exhibits strong family bonds and resilience, which can serve as protective factors for mental health. Addressing the mental health needs of this community requires culturally sensitive approaches and improved access to supportive services.
